Presence as infrastructure.

We are building the system of record for who was where, when. A layer other products can build on, the way they rely on identity, authentication, and payments today.

§ 01 — The Problem

Presence has never had a system of record.

Where a person was, and when, has historically been handled in ad hoc ways. Receipts. Phone records. Calendars. Boarding passes. Device location logs that show where a device was, not where a person was.

That works when the stakes are low. It breaks down when they aren't. It is hardest of all when you are asked to prove presence years after the fact.

The fix isn't more tracking. It is a record the person owns and can present when it matters.

§ 02 — The Thesis

A layer other products build on.

Identity, authentication, and payments are infrastructure. They are primitives that other products call on without thinking about. Presence should work the same way: a verified, privacy-respecting signal about who was where, when, that any product can rely on.

We are building it from real-world signals, under user control, in a form that holds up under scrutiny years later.

§ 03 — Where It Matters

Verified presence is load-bearing.

Wherever real-world location decides outcomes, ad hoc records eventually fail. These are the surfaces that need a better answer.

01 Tax residency
183-day rules, domicile, statutory residency. All decided by where a person physically was.
02 Immigration
Visa days, naturalization, Schengen 90/180. Every status depends on presence.
03 Compliance
Export controls, financial regulation, workforce eligibility. Jurisdiction follows the person.
04 Insurance
Premium, eligibility, and claims hinge on where exposure actually happened.
05 Fraud
Identities get stolen and reused. Physical presence at a place and time is much harder to fake.

§ 04 — Built On The Stack

Chrono is the first surface.

Chrono is a consumer application built on the Bloodhound stack. It gives travellers, expats, and high earners a defensible day-count across countries, US states, and the Schengen Area. With Chrono Verified, it also produces a biometric-attested record of presence that holds up when proof matters.
